A/N: Hey, guys! So I’ve been planning this for about a year, but finally started writing it, like, a week ago. I think it’s fitting, what with the tenth anniversary of Mean Girls coming up. I took a fair amount of inspiration from this post, and just went from there. So maybe it’s not perfect, but I’m having fun writing it, and hopefully I can get far enough into it before Mean Girls is gone from Netflix and I have to go back to scouring the Internet for it. Enjoy!

Chapter One: Goodbye Atlantica, Hello High School

"Here’s your lunch. I put a dollar in there so you can buy milk, you can ask one of the big kids where to do that."

"Daddy—"

"Do you remember your phone number? Here, I wrote it down for you. Put it in your pocket, I don’t want you to lose it."

"Dad—"

"Okay, are you ready?"

Ariel laughed, “Yes.”

Her father, Triton, put a hand on her shoulder, stopping them on the corner of the sidewalk. He turned her so that they faced each other and held up the camera he’d brought with him. Ariel smiled as the camera flashed, capturing her standing just outside of Walter Elias High School.
